Santorini Sunsets
Sunday 31st August - Sunday 7th September

Santorini had always been on my travel bucket list, and finally visiting this stunning Greek island was everything I hoped for and more. Our trip was planned for seven nights, with five nights in Fira, the island’s vibrant capital, and the final two nights in Oia, the iconic town known for its breathtaking sunsets.
Staying in Fira: The Heart of Santorini
Fira is lively, charming, and full of things to see and do. From wandering the narrow cobblestone streets to enjoying the spectacular caldera views, there’s always something to explore. The town is filled with boutique shops, quaint cafés, and local tavernas serving delicious Greek cuisine. A highlight for me was simply sitting at one of the cliffside cafés and watching the world go by—it’s the perfect blend of energy and relaxation.
Our accommodation in Fira was an apartment-style hotel, which made our stay incredibly comfortable and peaceful. The apartment was gorgeous, with modern amenities and stunning views of the caldera that made every morning feel magical. Experiencing Oia: Beauty and Charm
After five days in Fira, we headed to Oia for the last two nights of our trip. Oia is famous for its whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches, and, of course, unforgettable sunsets. Wandering through the winding streets felt like stepping into a postcard. There’s plenty to do in Oia, from exploring art galleries and boutique shops to enjoying a sunset cruise or simply relaxing at a cliffside café.
Our stay in Oia was equally perfect. The hotel was cozy, beautifully decorated, and offered breathtaking views of the caldera, making it the ideal place to unwind after a few days of sightseeing. Check out the hotel here.
Final Thoughts
Santorini is the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Staying in Fira gave us a lively, central base for exploring, while Oia offered a serene escape with postcard-perfect views. Between the gorgeous accommodations, amazing food, and stunning scenery, this trip was exactly the relaxing holiday we needed—and one I’ll always remember.

Oasis Concert Countdown: When Our Hotel Turned Out to Be a Demolition Site
Wednesday 16th July 2025
Our Manchester getaway was meant to be effortlessly perfect: Oasis concert tickets in hand, an overnight stay booked, and a bottle of wine planned for the pre-show warm-up. We stepped off the train full of excitement, ready to settle into our hotel before the big night. After a slow 30-minute Uber ride through traffic and a 20-minute walk (with a quick stop to pick up that essential bottle of wine), we finally approached what should have been our home for the night. The anticipation was real… until reality hit.Our “hotel” was, in fact, a demolition site.Gone. Flattened. Reduced to rubble. Not even a stray sign left to soften the blow. All we could do was laugh — mostly because, on the train, we’d joked:“Imagine if our room was double-booked and we ended up with nowhere to stay.”Little did we know the universe had prepared an even more dramatic plot twist. To make things more thrilling, the concert was starting in one hour. What followed was the kind of frantic scramble only travel mishaps can deliver. After hunting for last-minute availability, we found the only hotel with rooms left — conveniently located right back where we’d gotten off the train. So, with our bags and our increasingly symbolic bottle of wine, we trekked all the way back across the city, racing the clock like it was part of the concert experience. In the end, we made it. And honestly? The chaos, the laughter, and the unexpected detour turned the night into a story far better than anything we could’ve planned. Because sometimes the best travel memories start with everything going spectacularly wrong.
I’d love to recommend it, but considering it has quite literally been demolished, I think it’s fair to give it a generous 0/10.
One piece of advice : DO NOT BOOK FAIRWAYS LODGE MANCHESTER
